D&D stands for Dowlath and Dowlath, surnames of the brothers Subash and Nirvash who have combined their extensive corporate and financial expertise to form D&D Advisory.
D&D Advisory provides a full range of financial and risk management services. Nirvash Dowlath
D&D Advisory is led by Nirvash Dowlath, a former Group Executive Internal Auditor of Liberty Group and an Audit Director at Old Mutual as well as a former partner at Ernst & Young. He recently added to his impressive list of accomplishments the distinction of being appointed to serve a three-year term as a member of the Audit Committee of The Presidency.
Subash Dowlath
D&D Advisory supports SDB Holdings, which is headed by Subash Dowlath, a qualified attorney with a BA degree from the University of Natal, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Durban-Westville, and a Master of Laws degree from the University of South Africa. He now focuses on developing businesses in the SDB Holdings fold.

OUR TEAM PROFILE
NIRVASH DOWLATH MANAGING DIRECTOR
- Nirvash has over 20 years of experience in large global organisations and in corporate, professional and financial services.
- Before establishing D&D Advisory, he was the Audit Director at Old Mutual, in charge of Emerging Markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America for Savings and Protection, Investments, Short Term Insurance and Lending businesses for the Group.
- Previously he was Group Executive Internal Auditor of the Liberty Group. He was in charge of Assurance services across the following sectors: Insurance, Asset Management, Institutional, Health, Africa, and Direct Financial Services.
- Nirvash was at Ernst & Young from 2001 to 2009 and became the partner heading up the Pretoria public sector practice.
CORNELL VAN EMMENIS LEAD CONSULTANT
- Cornell is a manager in the Advisory Financial Services Risk Management team. He has over eight years of internal audit and risk management experience in various industries. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and currently studying towards his certification as a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA).
- Prior to he was fulfilling many financial roles within organisations. Cornell also worked in the United Kingdom for several years. He joined EY in 2015 and recently partnered with D&D Strategic Financial Holdings.
- Cornell has very strong experience in delivering governance, internal audit and risk management assignments. He further specializes in assisting management with process redesign and implementation.
- Cornell’s industry experiences reach across various industries, which includes but is not limited to financial services, acquisitions & asset management, financial management, public sector and contract /project management.
MARK TANZER FINANCE & ACTUARIAL
- Mark is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. Mark holds various other designations including a BSc (Cum Laude) in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics.
- He is an investment consultant, which specializes in client solutions for optimizing exchanged traded fund investments. He further develops and presents various investment strategies and solutions to clients seeking targeted returns.
- Previously Mark was an Actuary Manager with KPMG LLP UK advising clients on M&A due diligence transactions, asset and liability management, solvency II, interest rate derivative pricing and redress solutions.
- Mark held positions at Standard Bank of South Africa as a qualitative analyst as well as an actuarial analyst with Discovery Life, South Africa.
